Lantern Festival 観光

Thousands of Lanterns

Kodaira’s lantern festival, also known as akari matsuri, is held on the first Saturday in August every year. Locations along the Sayama Sakai Green Way and Tamagawa Josui Canal stretches of the Kodaira Green Road are decorated with nearly 4,000 handmade lanterns. A performance stage as well as food and beverage stalls are at every venue along the Kodaira Green Road. Come out to watch lanterns flicker in the night air while also enjoying performances from local talent! This event is the perfect opportunity to break out your yukata.

This festival is put on for the locals, by the locals. Come experience the passion of a local festival!
